Join the cross-border project to support cycling tourism!
Are you interested in the development of cycling routes and better facilities for cyclists and tourists in the border regions of Slovakia and Poland? Right now, you have a unique opportunity to participate in a project that will connect the residents and visitors of the region and support sustainable tourism.
Our goal is to better connect the residents of Slovakia with Poland and to build four new cycling shelters on existing bike routes, which will serve as resting places and provide shelter to cycle tourists on their journeys. More information about the upcoming project, including contact persons and shelter proposals, can be found below.
If you are interested in this project, get involved and share your opinions and suggestions! Please fill out a short survey, which you can find here, or participate in online meetings – on December 2nd at 17:00 in Slovak, on December 2nd at 17:00 in Polish.
Your feedback will help us create the most effective infrastructure for all cycling tourism enthusiasts in the region.
Any questions that we receive related to the project (including responses) will be published in the next article on our website.
We look forward to your opinions and suggestions!

Specific Objective 1: Strengthening the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion, and social innovation.
Project Title
Pohraničím na kole (Cycling through the Borderlands)
Main Project Goal
The goal of the project is to connect residents and visitors of the border regions of Slovakia and Poland by creating facilities for cyclists and tourists that will support their comfort and enable safe passage through the region. The project will initially build four cycling shelters – two on the Slovak side and two on the Polish side – providing cyclists with resting places and shelter from adverse weather. This project will contribute to the development of sustainable tourism and strengthen cultural cooperation between the regions. It will also be the first step towards connecting the Tatras and the Beskids with cycling routes in the future.

Stakeholders, Target Groups of the Project
The project is aimed at cyclists and tourists on both sides of the border.
The main group consists of cycle tourists using cycling trails in the Slovakia-Poland region, residents of the border region, tourists and visitors to the border region, local governments, and entrepreneurs in tourist areas.
Approximately 30% of the population are cyclists. About 19% of the population rides longer routes than 40 km. Cycling shelters will also be attractive to tourists and visitors to the region, not only those coming specifically for cycling tourism but also those wanting to rent a bike and explore the area.
Cycling shelters provide cyclists with places to rest, shelter, and facilities during their journeys. This increases their safety, comfort, and convenience during cycling trips.
Thanks to the existence of cycling shelters, cyclists can plan their routes knowing they will have plenty of places to relax on the way. This may attract new visitors (e.g., seniors, people with disabilities, or children and young people who otherwise would not dare to travel without the possibility to rest) to the border area, interested in cycling tourism and exploring the surrounding landscape. This will also support local economies.
